  • Summary

    The post holder will manage the development and consistent delivery of NUS Wales’ public affairs strategy. They will effectively manage NUS Wales communications across students’ unions, key stakeholders and the wider public, including the campaigning work of NUS Wales and the priorities of NUS Wales’ full time elected officers. In addition, they will grow and develop the bilingual service and policy of NUS.

    NUS Wales is the voice of more than 300,000 students in Wales. As our External Affairs Manager, you will make sure our students cannot be ignored.

    Job Role

    The successful candidate will have the breadth and depth of experience to be able to lead a team of communicators, campaigners and translators. You will have extensive experience of developing communications strategies, including crisis management and working with difficult audiences; experience of building media and press relationships, including as a press contact and an understanding of current affairs within Welsh politics.

    This role will include travel within Wales and the UK, with travel time beyond normal working hours. This role will contribute towards press relationship management, acting as the press contact for NUS Wales and be expected to respond to this outside normal working hours.
