  • Summary

    We are a voluntary organisation looking for a director, to develop, manage and deliver the organisations strategic plan. Key features of this role will include the operational management of the centre, lead the dedicated staff team in overcoming current funding challenges, by identifying new partners and funding opportunities. Experience of working within the voluntary sector, knowledge of fundraising, networking and managing a small organisation are desirable for this role.

    Job Role

    Purpose of the Job:

    · To develop, manage and deliver the strategic plan of SRCDC.

    Key responsibilities:

    · Lead the strategic direction and operational management of SRCDC.

    · Raise the profile and reputation of the charity.

    Specific duties and activities:

    · Develop the charity’s strategic plan in partnership and with approval from the board.

    · Deliver a work plan based on the agreed strategic objectives of the charity.

    · Ensure that the charity is well administered and support the Chair to ensure it meets its governance responsibilities.

    · Identify and initiate SRCDC’s relationships with current and potential partners, suppliers and influencers with an outcome of better performance across current projects and development of new streams of work.

    · Identify and initiate SRCDC’s relationships with current and potential funders with an outcome of increased core funding and reserves. A realistic stretch target will be mutually agreed between the post holder and the Board.

    • Identify and initiate SRCDC’s relationships with influencers and decision makers, including journalists and influencers on social channels, with an outcome of stronger public profile and adoption of key policies by governments and political parties. Represent the charity in the press and public appearances when required.
    • Lead original design for all strategic and project based work plans and campaigns. This includes developing a strong business and marketing plan.
    • Recruit, manage and develop staff so that they are able to carry out their assigned responsibilities.

    · Regularly review operating policies to ensure programmes and activities are implemented effectively.

    · Set the SRCDC’s budget within the parameters set by the Board and ensure day-to-day financial management of the charity, including preparation of budgets for agreement by the Board and ensuring that income is maintained and expenditure is controlled in line with budgets and that potential risks are identified and managed, working towards a sustainable charity.

    • Undertake all necessary duties and activities to deliver the responsibilities of the role, alerting the Chair to any barriers encountered and contributing to the successful resolution of any issues.

    About you

    We are looking for an individual who possesses a degree (or equivalent) with experience of working within the voluntary sector, managing a staff team and budgets. Knowledge of Employment Law and HR processes are also desirable.

    A track record of project management, with a history of successful bid writing and income generation are essential.

    To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills; able to articulate and present ideas in a clear and coherent way both oral and written and act as a credible ambassador for the charity. Also ability to influence, persuade and build productive relationships and high level contacts within the voluntary sector.
